Our Houston, TX client, located in the Galleria area, is in need of a contract to possible hire Purchasing Clerk.
Duties:
Create purchase orders for OCTG & Line Pipe services from local vendors
Communicate with service vendors on a daily basis regarding order progress, deadlines and completion
Negotiate pricing structures with vendors
Research best price, lead time and quality of work throughout broad network of vendors
Consistent reporting to internal departments regarding status of open orders
Expedite and manage service performance schedules based on customer needs
Prioritize
Develop and maintain working relationships with vendors
Work with Logistics on movements between yards for service
Work with Inventory Department to update inventory levels based on purchase order completion
Handle all vendor completion reports, investigate and correct discrepancies
Software Recommendations:
MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, Lotus, Peachtree
Experience Required:
1-3 years of purchasing experience required. Ability to use advanced math skills and logic on a daily basis. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills. Oilfield industry experience a MUST with familiarity of OCTG and Line Pipe tubular goods. Very fast paced and demanding position. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and work well under deadlines. Must have a significant attention to detail and be efficient and proactive. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and be extremely organized. Must be available to start work immediately.
